North Central Texas College and partner school districts received significant workforce training grants designed to expand access to vocational and technical education programs across the region.
North Central Texas College received $331,656 in workforce training funding for registered nursing programs, while Forestburg ISD secured $131,838 for welding programs developed in partnership with NCTC. The combined grants exceed $460,000 in state support for career and technical education.
The nursing program grant will allow NCTC to expand capacity and support for students pursuing registered nursing credentials. Registered nurses remain in high demand across North Texas healthcare facilities, making nursing education a priority for workforce development funding.
The welding program grant supports Forestburg ISD's partnership with NCTC to prepare students for careers in skilled trades. Welding continues to be a valuable skill with strong employment prospects across construction, manufacturing, and energy sectors.
"These grants reflect the state's commitment to workforce development and career pathways in our region," said NCTC officials. "We're grateful for the opportunity to expand these critical programs and serve more students."
The funding comes through the state's workforce training allocation program, which prioritizes high-need occupations and programs that lead to family-sustaining wages and career advancement.
