BURKBURNETT, Texas — The Muenster Hornets showed why they're the defending state champions Thursday night, rolling past Wellington 63-21 in the Area round of the Class 2A Division I playoffs at Burkburnett. The Hornets' offense exploded for 63 points, continuing their dominant playoff run as they chase back-to-back state titles. The 42-point victory moves Muenster into the Regional round, where they'll face Albany on Friday, November 29, at 7 p.m. at Wichita Falls Memorial Stadium. Muenster entered the playoffs as Area Champions with championship experience from last season's run. The team has shown its championship pedigree throughout the season, combining veteran leadership with explosive playmaking ability. The Hornets' defense also came to play, holding Wellington to just 21 points while the offense clicked on all cylinders. The comprehensive victory demonstrated Muenster's readiness for the deeper playoff rounds ahead. Friday's Regional matchup against Albany represents another step toward returning to the state championship game.
