The University Interscholastic League released new district alignments for the 2026-28 cycle, placing Lindsay ISD with familiar and new foes.

LINDSAY, Texas — The University Interscholastic League has released new district alignments for the 2026-28 athletic cycle, reshuffling competition for Lindsay ISD across football, volleyball and basketball. In football, the Knights will compete against Celeste, Collinsville, Cumby, Era and Quinlan Boles. The alignment keeps the Lindsay-Era rivalry intact while adding new matchups against Celeste and Cumby from the east. For volleyball, Lindsay lands in a district with Collinsville, Sam Rayburn, Tioga, Tom Bean and Whitewright. The basketball alignment groups the Knights with Collinsville, Era, Muenster, Tioga, Tom Bean and Whitewright, preserving key Cooke County rivalries. Districts for spring sports and academics will be released at a later date, according to the UIL. The biennial realignment process reshuffles districts across the state based on updated enrollment figures. Schools can move up or down in classification depending on student population changes, altering the competitive landscape for every sport. For Lindsay, the new alignments mean continued competition against county rivals Collinsville and Era, while the football district in particular brings fresh opponents from further east. The Knights' basketball district retains the Cooke County cluster of Lindsay, Era and Muenster, ensuring those long-standing rivalries continue. Fans and athletes can find complete realignment information at the UIL website, realignment.uiltexas.org. The new districts take effect for the 2026-27 school year.
