GAINESVILLE, Texas — Drivers in Gainesville should plan for two active road closures this week, while school boards in Lindsay and Muenster are scheduled to meet Wednesday, July 22.
Rice Avenue work underway
A portion of Rice Avenue near the curve in the 2100 block closed Tuesday, July 21, as City of Gainesville crews repair the roadway and install a new drainage valley gutter. The closure is expected to last at least a week while the concrete cures.
The city said nearby residents and EMS have been notified. Drivers who normally use the area can take Anthony Street or Old Denton Road and should follow posted traffic signs.
Refinery Road closure begins Thursday
A portion of southbound Refinery Road just north of Berent Street is scheduled to close at 7 a.m. Thursday, July 23, for street repairs. The city expects that closure to remain in place about five to seven days while crews complete the work and the concrete cures.
The city asked drivers to allow extra time, use an alternate route when possible and use added caution near the work zone.
Lindsay and Muenster boards meet Wednesday
Lindsay ISD’s regular board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday. Its posted agenda includes a public forum, consent items, financial reports and superintendent reports.
Muenster ISD’s board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Its agenda includes public comment, a superintendent report, tax and business reports, and other district updates.
