The inaugural Sunflower Festival brings community celebration to the Cooke County Fairgrounds this Saturday, September 27, offering a full day of family-friendly activities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The free admission event promises "a celebration of community, creativity and sunshine" featuring activities for all ages at the fairgrounds location. Organizers describe the festival as the perfect way to kick off fall season with family and friends.

Festival activities include vendor markets with local artisans and businesses, live entertainment throughout the day, and interactive community activities. The sunflower theme celebrates the agricultural heritage of North Central Texas while providing photo opportunities and seasonal decorations.

The event represents a new addition to Gainesville's community calendar, joining established festivals like Depot Days and the annual Wine & Country Festival. Local organizers hope the Sunflower Festival will become an annual tradition bringing together residents from throughout Cooke County.

Families can expect a variety of activities suitable for children and adults, with vendors offering unique crafts, food options, and local products. The fairgrounds location provides ample parking and space for outdoor activities.

The festival continues Gainesville's efforts to expand community programming and provide regular events that showcase local culture and creativity. The free admission ensures accessibility for families throughout the region.

Weather permitting, the outdoor event will take place rain or shine with some activities moving indoors if necessary. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for outdoor seating areas.
