North Texas Medical Center received a $135,000 grant from The Moody Foundation to replace Giraffe infant warmers in the hospital's nursery, supporting nearly 300 newborn deliveries each year.

GAINESVILLE, Texas — North Texas Medical Center received a $135,000 grant from The Moody Foundation to purchase replacement Giraffe infant warmers for the hospital's nursery, an investment officials say will strengthen care for the county's newest residents. The advanced warmers provide thermal regulation and integrated monitoring technology, stabilizing newborns immediately after birth by maintaining optimal body temperature and supporting rapid clinical assessment. The devices help reduce complications during the critical transition to life outside the womb. "The replacement Giraffe infant warmers are a critical investment in the health of our community's newest members," said Jimae Eakins, NTMC Women's Center Director. NTMC delivers nearly 300 newborns annually, serving families across Cooke County and surrounding rural communities. The hospital's Labor and Delivery team provides care close to home for mothers and infants who might otherwise travel to larger facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The new warmers are expected to be fully installed and operational later this year. NTMC's labor and delivery services are also poised to expand with the arrival of a new obstetrician, Dr. Deleion, adding capacity to meet the community's growing needs. The Moody Foundation, based in Galveston, supports health care, education, and community development programs across Texas. The grant continues a pattern of philanthropic investment in rural hospital infrastructure that helps smaller facilities maintain the same quality of care found at larger medical centers.
