Muenster ISD was honored for workplace safety at a statewide conference, and the Railroad Commission of Texas stopped by the local Kiwanis Club to talk oil and gas regulations.

MUENSTER, Texas — A pair of recent announcements put Muenster in good company, with the school district picking up a statewide safety honor and state regulators making a stop at the local Kiwanis Club.

Muenster ISD earns statewide safety honor

Muenster ISD has been named a recipient of the Billy E. Hibbs Safety Award from Claims Administrative Services, Inc. (CAS), a company that administers a shared workers' compensation program for more than 300 Texas school districts and colleges.

The award recognizes districts that take a proactive approach to workplace safety — tracking incidents, training staff, and keeping injuries and costs down. Muenster ISD received the honor at the CAS annual appreciation event on January 25, held during the TASA Midwinter Conference in San Antonio.

The district also came home with a $500 Annie Ozella Jones Scholarship to award to a student of its choosing — a nod to the idea that a culture of safety extends beyond the workplace.

RRC stops by Muenster Kiwanis

On April 15, staff from the Railroad Commission of Texas' Office of Public Engagement sat down with the Muenster Kiwanis Club for a conversation about what the agency actually does.

The RRC oversees oil and gas development across the state, along with pipeline safety, surface mining, and alternative fuels. Kiwanis members had questions about well site activity, equipment standards, and safety regulations — the kind of topics that matter in a region with active energy production nearby.

The Railroad Commission offers similar presentations to community groups across Texas. To request a speaker, visit rrc.texas.gov/public-engagement.
