Muenster ISD Weekly Roundup: Regionals, Roller Coasters and a Cafeteria Cutoff

From UIL regional qualifiers to a paper roller-coaster physics lab and a Spring Fling for middle schoolers, Muenster ISD packed a lot into the week of April 20 — plus a heads-up on the May 7 cafeteria charging deadline.

MUENSTER, Texas — Muenster ISD packed a busy week between April 20 and 24, with UIL Regional qualifiers competing at Grayson College, a creative physics lab in Mrs. Miller's classroom, a middle-school Spring Fling, and a heads-up to families about the upcoming end-of-year cutoff for cafeteria charging.

Academic UIL — Regional Qualifiers

Muenster High School sent qualifiers in seven academic UIL events to the Regional meet on Friday, April 24, at Grayson College in Denison. Among the qualifiers:

  • Computer Science: Ivan M, Ethan B, Kyle L
  • Feature Writing: Ayden S
  • Lincoln Douglas Debate: Della W
  • Mathematics (wild card): Dalton M, Ivan M, Sydney M, Clayton L
  • Number Sense (wild card): Dalton M, Ivan M, Sydney M, Carter Q
  • Science (wild card): Dalton M, Ivan M, Tyler S, Dylan L
  • Spelling (wild card): Sydney M, Emma K, Baylie B, Lauren G

Mrs. Miller's Paper Roller Coaster Lab

Physics students in Mrs. Miller's class spent part of the week building paper roller coasters that had to keep a marble in motion for at least eight seconds while applying classroom concepts of energy and velocity. Designs included loops, twists and multi-section drops. Collin and Ava took the top spot with a coaster that ran for an impressive 24 seconds.

Spring Fling for 6th, 7th and 8th Graders

Muenster ISD held its middle-grade Spring Fling on Monday, April 20, splitting the evening into a 6th-grade hour from 5 to 6 p.m. and a 7th- and 8th-grade window from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Mini Cheer Camp Set for June

Looking ahead to summer, the MHS cheer program announced a Mini Cheer Camp running Monday, June 8 through Thursday, June 11, daily from 9 to 11 a.m. The camp is open to younger Hornets and is the program's annual feeder event tied into football season prep.

A Thank-You for Administrative Professionals

The district paused on Wednesday, April 23 to recognize Administrative Professionals Day. "We celebrate the incredible individuals who keep our schools running smoothly every single day," Muenster ISD said in its post. "Your organization, dedication, and support make a difference not only for our staff, but for every student we serve."

Cafeteria Charging Deadline: May 7

Families should note that Thursday, May 7 is the final day MISD will allow charging in the cafeteria for the 2025–2026 school year. The snack line will also close that day. Account balances should be settled before the cutoff.
