Cooke County School Boards Set Budget Hearings for August

Gainesville, Muenster, Era and Valley View ISDs all have board meetings and public budget hearings scheduled for mid-August 2026.

GAINESVILLE, Texas — Four Cooke County school districts have scheduled board meetings and public budget hearings in mid-August, giving residents a chance to weigh in on next year's spending plans. Gainesville ISD's board meets August 17 at 5 p.m. for a regular session that includes a public hearing on the 2026-2027 budget and proposed tax rate. Citizens who wish to speak will get five minutes. The agenda also covers district enrollment, a start-of-school update, Senate Bill 12 compliance certification, and a Phase 1 bond projects update. Muenster ISD's board meets August 12 at 6:30 p.m. for its regular monthly meeting and tax-rate hearing. The agenda includes consent items, superintendent and principal reports, and departmental updates covering technology, athletics, transportation, and counseling. Era ISD's board meets August 17 at 6 p.m. The meeting includes recognition of 2025-2026 UIL academic state qualifiers and a presentation by CFO Julie Maddux on the district's perfect financial integrity rating. The board will also consider 2026-2027 budget amendments and hear reports on district operations. Valley View ISD has scheduled a public meeting August 17 at 6 p.m. to discuss the proposed 2026-2027 district budget and tax rate. Superintendent Dr. C. James Womack is set to present the budget and lead board discussion. All four districts encourage public participation. Meeting agendas are posted on each district's BoardBook page in advance.
