TDLR project TABS2023025072 lists GlobalWafers America at 3200 Northgate Drive. The record describes a wafer manufacturing facility that makes 300mm silicon wafers used to make semiconductor chips, with a factory building plus support buildings and utility yards. Square footage is listed at 1,330,000. The estimated cost on the filing is $1 billion.
According to TDLR, the project start date was Nov. 1, 2022, and the completion date was Dec. 31, 2025. The current status is “Project Closed.” The work is recorded as new construction on private land with private funds.
Context in Sherman’s semiconductor corridor
GlobalWafers sits in the same Grayson County industrial story as Texas Instruments’ Sherman site. TI’s public manufacturing page says its Sherman 300mm wafer fabrication campus is planned for up to four connected fabs and that the first fab, SM1, is in production.
