November 2 event at FireHouse1918 offers support and practical resources for emergency services families.

GAINESVILLE, Texas — A free community event designed to support first responder families will take place on Sunday, November 2, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at FireHouse1918 in downtown Gainesville. The First Responder Family Resiliency Dinner welcomes all law enforcement, fire department, emergency medical services, and emergency dispatch personnel along with their families. The event aims to empower first responder families with knowledge, skills, and tools to navigate the unique challenges of the first responder lifestyle. "Stop talking statistics — and start talking change," organizers said in announcing the four-hour gathering. Marnee Smith of First Responder Training Solution is organizing the event, which will feature a lineup including Ninofit.com, Smith herself, and an anonymous family member panel. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., with programming beginning at 4:00 p.m. The event focuses on connection, inspiration, and practical resources for families dealing with the stress and demands of emergency services work. First responders face unique occupational challenges, including irregular schedules, exposure to traumatic situations, and high-stress decision-making that can impact family relationships and mental health. FireHouse1918, located at 115 East Pecan Street, serves as an event venue and provides an appropriate setting for the gathering, reflecting the fire service heritage while offering modern event space for the community program. Attendance is free, though the event is restricted to participants ages 12 and older. Free parking is available near the venue. The dinner represents a growing recognition of the need to support not just first responders themselves, but also the family members who provide crucial support systems for those in emergency services careers. Family resilience programs help spouses, partners, and children understand the demands of first responder work and develop coping strategies for related challenges. Organizers encourage all eligible first responder families from Cooke County and surrounding areas to attend, regardless of which agency or department they serve. To register for the free event or for more information, visit Eventbrite.com and search for "First Responder Family Resiliency Dinner" or contact Marnee Smith through First Responder Training Solution.
