GAINESVILLE, TX — Historic Downtown Gainesville will host the 38th Annual Depot Days Festival on Saturday, October 11, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, continuing a beloved tradition that draws thousands of visitors to Cooke County each fall.

The signature community event, organized by the Downtown Gainesville Alliance, transforms the historic downtown district into a vibrant marketplace and entertainment venue featuring dozens of vendors, local artisans, food trucks, and family activities.

Depot Days has been a cornerstone of Gainesville's community calendar for nearly four decades, celebrating the city's railroad heritage and downtown revitalization. The festival takes place along California Street and surrounding blocks in the heart of the historic business district.

Local businesses participate by offering special promotions and extended hours during the festival. The event also serves as a showcase for regional crafters, artists, and entrepreneurs who display their wares to festival attendees from across North Texas.

Families can enjoy live entertainment throughout the day, with performances scheduled on multiple stages. Children's activities include face painting, games, and interactive booths designed to engage young visitors while parents browse vendor offerings.

The festival occurs during prime fall weather in North Texas, making it an ideal outdoor event for the entire family. Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early to secure parking in designated areas around the downtown square.

In the days leading up to Depot Days, Historic Downtown Gainesville is hosting complementary shopping events. The "Shop & Pop" promotion on September 12-13 offers special discounts at participating downtown retailers, with each purchase including a surprise element for shoppers.

Vendor applications for Depot Days are processed through the Downtown Gainesville Alliance website. Local businesses, crafters, and food vendors interested in participating can find detailed information about booth fees, requirements, and available spaces.

The North Texas Wine Country organization is also collaborating with the City of Gainesville on a separate Wine & Country Festival scheduled for November 22. That event will complement the fall festival season in downtown Gainesville, extending the celebration through the holiday season.

Depot Days has grown significantly since its inception, now attracting visitors from throughout the region who appreciate the small-town atmosphere and unique shopping opportunities. The festival also provides economic benefits to local businesses, restaurants, and hotels that see increased activity during the event weekend.

Community organizations and nonprofit groups use Depot Days as a fundraising and awareness opportunity, setting up informational booths to connect with residents and visitors. Local schools and service clubs often participate with various fundraising activities.

The Downtown Gainesville Alliance works year-round to promote and maintain the historic downtown district. Depot Days represents the organization's largest annual event and serves as a showcase for ongoing downtown revitalization efforts.

For those unable to attend the full day, organizers note that the festival maintains steady activity throughout the six-hour window, allowing visitors to drop in at their convenience. Free admission makes the event accessible to all community members.

Additional information about Depot Days, including vendor lists, entertainment schedules, and parking maps, will be posted on the Historic Downtown Gainesville Facebook page and the Downtown Gainesville Alliance website as the event date approaches.
