GAINESVILLE, Texas — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the annual Tri-County Farmer and Rancher Symposium on February 17 in Gainesville, bringing together agricultural producers from Cooke, Grayson and Montague counties. The symposium, which has been a regional staple since 2003, provides farmers and ranchers with continuing education units needed for private, commercial and non-commercial pesticide applicator licenses. Past programs have offered up to five CEUs. Topics typically covered at the symposium include drift minimization for agricultural and lawn applications, nuisance wildlife management, agricultural laws and regulations, pasture pest management using integrated pest management techniques, and information on herbicide residuals and new products. The event draws agricultural producers from across the three-county region, providing networking opportunities alongside the educational programming. Registration information and program details for the 2026 symposium will be available through the Cooke County AgriLife Extension office. The symposium typically runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and has been held at First Christian Church, 401 N. Dixon Street in Gainesville. For more information about the symposium, contact Cooke County agricultural agent Marty Morgan at 940-668-5412 or marty.morgan@ag.tamu.edu. Updated event information will also be posted at cooke.agrilife.org/events/. The AgriLife Extension Service provides research-based educational programs and services to agricultural producers, families and communities throughout Texas.
