GAINESVILLE — Downtown Gainesville will transform into a winter wonderland Thursday evening as the city hosts its 91st Annual Christmas Parade. The event, scheduled for December 4, features the theme "JOURNEY TO THE NORTH POLE!" and continues a tradition that dates back more than nine decades in Cooke County. The Annual Lighted Christmas Parade rolls through Downtown Gainesville on the first Thursday of December each year. This year's parade marks the 91st consecutive celebration of the holiday season in the historic downtown area. Parade organizers have planned a festive evening for families and community members. Participants will showcase decorated floats, marching bands, and seasonal displays as they make their way through the downtown route. The "JOURNEY TO THE NORTH POLE!" theme invites parade entries to incorporate elements of Santa's workshop, reindeer, elves, and other North Pole-inspired decorations. Creative interpretations of the theme are encouraged. Downtown businesses and organizations typically line the parade route with holiday decorations and lights. The evening atmosphere creates a memorable experience for spectators of all ages. Families are encouraged to arrive early to secure viewing spots along the parade route. Downtown Gainesville offers multiple vantage points for watching the procession. The Christmas Parade serves as a kickoff to the holiday season in Cooke County. The event brings together residents from throughout the area to celebrate community and tradition.
