GAINESVILLE, Texas — 7-Eleven is planning a new fueling center at one of Gainesville’s busiest crossroads, according to state building records.
A construction project registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation describes a one-story, 6,156-square-foot fueling center at the intersection of U.S. 82 and Interstate 35. The project carries an estimated construction cost of $1.4 million and is privately funded by 7-Eleven.
The filing, registered May 26, 2026, lists Dallas-based design firm The Dimension Group as the project’s architect. Construction is scheduled to begin July 6, 2026, with completion projected for May 4, 2027.
7-Eleven has not issued a public announcement about the location, and the records do not specify how many jobs the store will create or whether it will include the chain’s Laredo Taco Company restaurant concept, which anchors many of its newer fuel-and-convenience stores.
A strategic corner
The I-35 and U.S. 82 interchange is the commercial gateway to Gainesville — the point where east-west and north-south traffic converge about 10 miles south of the Oklahoma line. National retailers have been circling the node: state records also show a Take 5 Oil Change under development nearby on U.S. 82.
The investment fits a broader pattern. More than 2,000 acres of industrial and residential projects are in various stages of planning along the I-35 corridor in Cooke County, from the Camp Howze rail park to a 600-acre H-E-B supply-chain campus to the south. As traffic and rooftops increase, highway-commercial pads like this one tend to follow.
For residents, a new fueling center at the interchange means more fuel and convenience options at a corner that already sees heavy traveler traffic. For the corridor, it’s another sign that national capital is betting on Gainesville’s growth.
The Cooke County Record will update this story as 7-Eleven confirms details and as construction begins this summer.
