GAINESVILLE, Texas — The Morton Museum of Cooke County will host its Historic Holiday Home Tour on December 13, 2025, offering residents a chance to experience Gainesville's architectural heritage during the holiday season.
The annual tour showcases historic homes throughout Gainesville, each decorated to reflect the spirit of the holidays while highlighting the unique architectural features that make them significant to the community's history.
The Morton Museum is currently conducting a canned food drive to benefit VISTO, with donations entering participants into a drawing for two tickets to the holiday tour. The initiative combines community service with cultural programming, encouraging residents to support local charitable efforts.
Located at 210 S Dixon St in downtown Gainesville, the Morton Museum is housed in a restored 1884 city hall-firehouse-jail building. The museum uses rotating exhibits to chronicle Cooke County heritage from prehistory through World War II.
The Historic Holiday Home Tour has become a beloved tradition in Gainesville, drawing both longtime residents who appreciate the community's history and newcomers eager to learn about the area's architectural legacy.
Participating homes typically include a variety of architectural styles from different eras of Gainesville's development, offering insights into how the community grew and evolved over more than a century.
Tour attendees can expect to see period decorations, learn about the homes' histories, and meet current owners who have preserved these important pieces of Cooke County's past.
Ticket information and tour details will be announced closer to the December 13 date. For more information about the Historic Holiday Home Tour or other Morton Museum programs, visit mortonmuseum.org or call the museum during regular business hours.
