Lindsay ISD trustees meet Oct. 6 on negotiations and possible eminent domain for a public road to improve campus access.

LINDSAY, Texas — The Lindsay ISD Board of Trustees will meet in a special session at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, to deliberate and possibly act on negotiations and potential eminent domain for land needed for a public road to provide access to the district campus. The meeting is scheduled in the Lindsay High School library at 625 Knight Drive, according to the district’s BoardBook agenda posting. The special meeting is separate from the board’s regular third-Wednesday schedule. At the center of the agenda is an item covering negotiations and potential eminent domain to acquire real property for a public road the district says is necessary to provide access to the Lindsay ISD campus and for other public purposes permitted by law. The notice frames the item as deliberation and possible action, not a completed acquisition. Trustees are also listed to take up personnel issues and student issues or transfers. After open discussion, the board may move into an executive session under the Texas Open Meetings Act, including private consultation with the board’s attorney on the eminent-domain and road-access matter and discussion of the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property. No final action may be taken in closed session. The agenda calls for the board to return to open meeting and take any action it deems necessary after the closed discussion, then adjourn. Residents may address the board during the public forum. Comments are limited to five minutes each or 30 minutes total, according to the posted agenda. Speakers typically register with the superintendent’s office before the meeting begins. The board cannot discuss or act on topics that are not on the posted agenda. Lindsay ISD’s campus has undergone a major construction program that began in 2024 and finished in 2026, according to the district’s school-board page. The Oct. 6 agenda does not spell out the exact parcel, alignment or cost of the proposed access road, or whether negotiations have already produced an offer. Anyone seeking more detail can review the posted special-meeting agenda on BoardBook or contact the Lindsay ISD administration office at 495 West 6th St., Lindsay, at (940) 668-8923. Meeting notices are also posted on the bulletin board outside the administration office and on the district website, lindsayisd.org.
