GAINESVILLE, Texas — Cooke County commissioners accepted $26,400 from four residents on Sept. 14 to help pave parts of County Road 131 and County Road 134. Another $17,522 in donations for County Road 136 was on the court's Sept. 28 agenda.
At the Sept. 14 meeting, County Judge John O. Roane and Commissioners Gary Hollowell, Jason Snuggs and Adam Arendt approved the consent agenda 4-0. Commissioner Matt Sicking was absent. The vote was recorded as Order 2026-09-14-003.
The consent agenda accepted four donations of $6,600 each:
- Karen B. Simpson, for CR 131
- Sandra Goode, for CR 131 and CR 134 to FM 371
- Sherman Moore, for CR 131 east of CR 134 to FM 371
- Tommy Brent Goode, for CR 131 east of CR 134 to FM 371
The Sept. 28 agenda listed five more donations to pave part of CR 136 in Precinct 1:
- Rey Oropeza, $2,000
- Ronald and Karen Sellman, $3,300
- Jermel Richardson, $1,650
- Sheila W. Carroll, $5,286
- Clint Haverty, $5,286
The county had not posted minutes from the Sept. 28 meeting as of Oct. 6, so the court's official action on those five donations was not yet on record.
The minutes do not say when paving will begin or how much each project will cost. Both the Sept. 14 minutes and the Sept. 28 agenda are posted on the county's public notices page.
