GAINESVILLE, Texas — Fred Haiman won the Republican nomination for Cooke County Judge on Tuesday, collecting 1,368 votes to lead a three-candidate field by a wide margin in the March 3 primary election.
Karla Metzler finished second with 354 votes, followed by Kerri Kingsbury with 281 votes, according to final but unofficial results released by Cooke County.
The decisive victory gives Haiman a clear path forward in a county where the Republican primary often determines the general election outcome.
In the Precinct 4 Commissioner race, Matt Sicking defeated Phil Reiter, 367 votes to 330, to claim the Republican nomination for the seat.
Richard Womack won the Precinct 1 Chair contest over Steve Gaylord, 298 to 224.
Cooke County election officials reported strong early voting turnout ahead of Tuesday's contests. Complete unofficial results for all contested county-wide races are available on the Cooke County website.
The results remain unofficial pending canvassing by the Cooke County Elections Administrator. Voters with questions can contact the elections office at the Cooke County Courthouse in Gainesville.
