SHERMAN, Texas — Grayson County Commissioners have voted to delegate decision-making authority for traffic regulations on county roads and county-owned property directly to the county engineer.
Under the new policy adopted during the commissioners court's weekly meeting, the county engineer is authorized to establish speed limits, place stop and yield signs, and manage parking restrictions across county roads and county facilities without requiring individual court action for routine adjustments.
County officials indicated the change aims to streamline administrative processes and enable faster technical responses to traffic management and road safety needs throughout Grayson County.
Administrative Streamlining
Previously, individual traffic control adjustments required formal presentation, discussion, and action by the commissioners court. Delegating regulatory adjustments to professional engineering staff aligns county operations with common regional practices for road maintenance and public safety oversight.
The county engineer will oversee technical traffic evaluations and order sign placements or regulatory updates based on engineering standards.
