Muenster week brings state cross country and Olney football game

MUENSTER, Texas — Muenster has a state cross country runner and three football games on its schedule this week, with a late change to the junior varsity game, according to the school district’s athletics calendar and weekly update. Carly M. is scheduled to run in the Class 2A girls state cross country meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in Round Rock. Muenster ISD plans to send her off at 8 a.m. Thursday in front of Muenster High School. The district identifies the runner by first name and last initial in its public announcement. Junior high seventh- and eighth-grade football is scheduled to play in Olney at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5. The junior varsity team will play in Alvord at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the district’s updated weekly announcement. Families who saw an earlier schedule should note the Alvord location and time. The varsity Hornets are scheduled to host Olney at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. Before the game, the district plans to recognize seniors in football, band, cheer and cross country. Parents of seniors are asked to meet on the field at 6:20 p.m.; the athletics calendar lists recognition shortly afterward. A separate recognition for veterans on the football field has been canceled. Muenster ISD says its parent-teacher organization will still provide a meal for local veterans, though the weekly update does not give a time or location for the meal. The high school’s White Out senior pep rally has moved to 2:55 p.m. Friday in Hornet Gym.
