Cooke County weekend guide: Zoo strut and Muenster pep rally

GAINESVILLE, Texas — Families looking for local activities this week can choose a Saturday costume event at Frank Buck Zoo and a Friday throwback pep rally at Muenster High School. Both are listed by the organizations hosting them. Frank Buck Zoo's Costume Strut is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24. The City of Gainesville lists the event on its zoo special-events page at 1000 W. California St. Families should check with the zoo at 940-668-4539 for the time, admission and event details before visiting. Muenster ISD plans a “Throwback to Any Decade” pep rally at 3:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the Hornet Competition Gym. The district is inviting former Muenster High cheerleaders to join the fight song at the end of the rally. Students are encouraged to wear clothing inspired by a favorite decade. The district says junior high and high school students will follow a pep-rally schedule Friday. Its weekly athletics update also lists schedule changes: seventh- and eighth-grade football will travel to Nocona for a 5 p.m. kickoff, while junior varsity will play Gunter in Whitesboro starting at 7 p.m. Families should use the district athletics calendar for updates. These listings are previews; dates, times and access rules can change. The zoo and school district are the direct sources for final details.
